Hitting an animal can be a really scary experience and we hope you don't have to ever experience it but just in case here are some tips and information you should know to help you out.

Make sure you don't try and dodge an animal which is in the road especially if they are other drivers about, for example behind or to the side of you. It is easy to do this as a reaction but this could end up with injuring you and others.

If you hit an animal stay calm, if you have to stop make sure it is safe to do so and you are not causing any more danger to you or others. Don't be afraid to take a few minutes to calm down and figure out what happened and what you just hit.

If you have injured a wild animal call RSPCA on 0300 1234 999 and they will help you.
